Switched to the Head Graphene 360+ Gravity Pro

As you’ll probably deduce from the image, I’ve made a commitment to the Head Graphene 360+ Gravity Pro. In the last post I had bought a “test frame” and was really enjoying the blend of characteristics on offer. It’s quite unique to find a racket that is both comfortable, and also has enough put away power when you need it. Mix in a control oriented 18×20 string pattern, a decent launch angel and spin, and I found this to be a real winner combination.

Before making this switch I notice that Prince released an update to their Phantom range. I really enjoyed the previous (original) generation, and actually switched to the Prince Phantom 100 for a while. Specifically the Prince Phantom 100X 18×20 got my attention, only because based on spec alone it looked like it could an even more arm-friendly option.

Being a (self-proclaimed) magpie I simply had to have one. While there is no doubt it is a very nice racket it just wants as good as the Gravity Pro. Surprisingly the lower RA didn’t translate to additional comfort. In fact at the end of a one hour hitting session I noticed elbow sensitivity that I’d not had at all with the Gravity Pro.

So following the Price distraction I went ahead and ordered another couple of Gravity Pro rackets, making a total of three. One has been strung with my preferred combo of Babolat VS Touch Natural Gut 16 (Black) crosses and Yonex Poly Tour Fire 16L crosses, tension of 52 lb mains and 48 lb crosses, though done using the Sergetti method that I strongly believe in. Oh my, this feels so amazing and I fell in love with the Gravity Pro all over again. I can easily match the original racket to the two new ones when I restring, adding a small amount of lead under the grommets to keep it looking nice.

The cosmetic is “challenging” for me, but with all the characteristics that this racket brings to the court it is just too good not to make the switch. I’ve even gotten my wife into the Head Graphene 360+ Gravity MP, and daughter has just got the Head Graphene 360+ Gravity MP Lite.
